So, as all of you know...We are expecting our first child in early August.I will try to get better about posting here to keep you updated on the baby. First, I will catch you up to date. We always said we would start trying to concieve on our first wedding anniversary. Well, that's what we did and much to our surprise, the very next month we concieved! I read in a book that I have that it takes 80% of couples 6 months or more to concieve! God truly blessed us and I thank him every single day for trusting me to carry and raise this child. I hope I don't let the Big Guy down :)
So, I found out on December 3rd that we were going to be parents. I was home alone, actually. Double was working at the fire station and I just thought I would take a home pregnancy test. Strange, because the only real sign of pregnancy that I had was that I was craving jalapenos....on EVERYTHING! It kind of grosses me out now but, that's what I wanted. Double was scheduled to work his 24 hour shift and leave first thing in the morning to go to drill in Troy. (I hated those weekends!) Meaning, I wouldn't get to see him until he got home Sunday night! I didn't want to tell him over the phone so, I decided I would go to his parent's house in Elba Saturday afternoon so I could see him when he got there after drill! This was also game day for Auburn. So, he gets there and pays me no attention, as the game is on. So, I call him into the bedroom and tell him I have a present for him. His immediate response: "But babe, the game is on." Typical. I tell him, you are definitely going to want to open this. He opened his gift and I had wrapped a baby girl and baby boy outfit that both said I love my daddy along with all 8 (yes, eight) pregnancy tests I had taken so far. (That's nothing, I think the total # of tests taken was around 18. ha...I just couldn't believe it!) I had never seen him so happy. Definitely one of the best days of our lives.
So, I went in that Monday to do a blood test which confirmed we were pregnant and scheduled my first appointment. Our first appointment was December 20th and I have to say, I was disappointed. I thought I would get my first ultrasound and begged my Doctor to let me have one. Luckily, he is a miracle worker and squeezed me in to come that Thursday, the 23rd for our first picture of Baby Dodd! It was THE most amazing thing I have ever seen and it's heartbeat was breath taking. I could not believe there was a tiny little human forming.
Our next appointment was at 11 weeks and we got to see the baby again! I had a small "bleed" on my uterus and they wanted to check to see if everything was ok. God is good. Not signs of anything wrong and it closed up all on its own! Baby was measuring 3 days ahead (as it did the first ultrasound) The Doctor said even if the bleed had not healed on it's own, it wouldn't have been anything to worry about. I'm just glad we didn't have to worry about it. Here is a pic of Baby Dodd at 11 weeks!

So at the 11 weeks appointment, we scheduled our early Gender scan for 16 weeks! Those 5 weeks may have been the longest of my life. But, on February 23rd, we saw that precious baby once again and discovered that Baby Dodd is a GIRL! I am over the moon excited! Double was a little nervous at first but, he is definitely just as thrilled about his "little buddy" as he like to call her. We already had names picked out and decided on Emmalynn Jane for our baby girl. Here is her picture at 16 weeks and 4 days!

It's a GIRL!
Please keep us and Emmalynn in your prayers. Pray that she continues to grow and develop just as she should and stays put until at least 37 weeks :)
Also, pray for a dear, sweet friend of mine who is also preparing to bring a child into this world. She and her husband are preparing to adopt and can bring a baby home at anytime! They are going to be wonderful parents and I am thrilled that are children will be close in age!
