Heavy Heart
This morning, I can NOT stop the tears. My husband, Double, left for summer camp for the Army National Guard last Saturday. A few days ago he called me and I could tell he was a little shaken up. He told me of a soldier that had been killed in Afghanistan. He served two deployments... the first on he deployed with Double to Iraq. The second, he deployed with my brother in law Kevin (Double's brother) to Qatar and Kuwait. After those deployments, he went into Active Duty. Which is why he was deployed a third time to Afghanistan. I could be wrong, but I believe he was killed by a bombing of some sort. He was only 25 years old and left behind a wife AND two sons. I absolutely can not imagine what his wife is going through right now. My heart aches for her and his family. His body is scheduled to arrive in Enterprise this morning at 9:15....only 15 minutes from right now. I pray for strength and comfort for his family and the God wraps his arms around them in this time of need. I also want to say that I take so much pride in our Armed Forces. They risk their lives and many lose their lives for ME. I think we all take for granted what goes on in this war. The media is too concerned about which celebrity is going to jail, having a baby, gaining weight, whatever the case may be. It is our SOLDIERS who are the real celebrities. They are the ones who deserve our attention and praise. So, please just take a minute and say a prayer for SPC Andrew Hand and all of our fallen Soldiers. And when you see a soldier, let them know how grateful you are that they risk their lives to protect yours. I promise they will appreciate it. God Bless America and God Bless our Soldiers!

HEY LB!!!
So, I only have one blog follower and that is one of my BFF's, LB! I know she will be super excited I finally posted something! But, if by chance you are stumbling across my blog...I have a delicious recipe for a pineapple cake with cream cheese icing that is so yummy! Seriously...run to the grocery store NOW and get the ingredients and make it tonight! You won't regret it!
For the cake you will need the following:
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 20ounce can of crushed pineapple WITH the juice.
It's so easy...just whisk all of those thing together and pour in a baking dish and bake on 350 for about 40-45 minutes!
For the icing you will need:
1/2 cup butter
8 ounces cream cheese
1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Just beat all of those together with a mixer and try not to eat it all while the cake bakes and cools...then, just ice the cake! EASY PEASEY I tell you! Hubs loves it and so do all his firefighter friends!
Side note: I'm very sorry for no picture. I even baked it in my cute polka dot baking dish for the picture. But, hubs distracted me and made me forget....I'll remember next time!
